Play! A Festival of Arts and Technology
This festival was produced by urbanSTEW, an arts and technology collective. A lot of urbanSTEW’s work is through interdisciplinary arts (music, dance, installations, etc.) while using technology as an extension of these ideas. The theme of this festival was disability perception – limiting the art to the human body and technology. I took part in this festival by performing Toshi Ichiyanagi’s Music for Electric Metronomes, which is notated as a map. Performers’ paths intersect through their metronome BPMs and performance actions/sounds.
